2004 EHR WfMS Tutorial Slide 68: EMR EHR Workflow Engine Enables Fewer Non-Value-Added Activities

From 2004 to 2006 I gave an annual three-hour tutorial about EHR Workflow Management Systems (WfMSs). While some terminology is dated (for example, WfMSs are now called Business Process Management Systems), the concepts are even more relevant today. P.S. The next three screens are a review of what we just saw in the animation. Fewer non-value-added activities [because] the process definitions can drive the activities so you get the fast presentation of the right screen, right content, right format, and you skip the non-value-added activities such as the activity of having to navigate from screen-to-screen. You also have the automatic execution of screenless tasks and that eliminate someone from having to go and manually instruct the system to print out the information or to manually go and find the next person to accomplish the next step in that task [activity].
