2004 EHR WfMS Tutorial Slide 48: EMR EHR Practice Survey: Effect of Usable Workflow on Expenses

From 2004 to 2006 I gave an annual three-hour tutorial about EHR Workflow Management Systems (WfMSs). Expenses and things that have to do with expenses–staff reduced from 17.5 to 16.7 people. There was a twelve percent decrease in staff to provider ratio, which is good because providers generate revenue whereas staff tend to be expenses. There was 67 percent decrease transcription costs. And, in conjunction with the affects on revenue there was a fifteen month average payback period.
