#AMIA2014 Tuesday Tweets Down From Monday, 13% Higher Than Tueday 2013

The AMIA is enormously influential in educating medical informaticists, who then teach, research, and join the Health IT industry. I’ve presented a couple times and been many times (especially during the early SCAMC days). Given increasing importance of Twitter during the conference, here’s a graph (drawing on Symplur) comparing hashtag tweet volumes to 2011, 2012, and 2013. The questions marks were my initial guesses at this year’s tweet volumes. As you can see, I underestimated! Cool! 🙂

I’m updating this blog post daily during the American Medical Informatics Association annual conference. Let’s break 2,500 tweets in a 24 hour period: TWEET! 🙂 Congratulations! 2745 tweets! Now let’s see whether Monday continues on to 3000? 3500? Nope! Sorry! There were 2431 tweets during Monday on the #AMIA2014 hashtag. That’s up 33% over Monday last year. Tuesday? 1960 tweets vs 1734 last year.

Check back here, or, just do what I do, follow tweets containing the upcoming conference hashtag: #AMIA2014. I’m sure you’ll see updated visualizations when I tweet them out.
