“Patient flows in clinical ophthalmology are complex: patients see multiple providers, undergo dilation, and may undergo office procedures. Due to the complexity of and multistep nature of this process, patient wait times can accumulate, affecting patient satisfaction1 and future care2. Being able to predict variability and patient exam times has potential to greatly improve scheduling strategies3. We propose using timestamps from historical exam data from an electronic health record (EHR) for this prediction, and to validate them with observed time-motion data. ”
