Google Glass Video of John Lynn At #HIMSS14 On Health IT Social Media

Hi John,

During the HIMSS14 new media tweetup I recorded you with Glass. I hope you don’t mind, and didn’t think you would, since I did the same several years ago with HatCam.

As usual your advice was spot on, enormously useful to anyone in health IT social media.

May I have your permission to publish the following six (currently unlisted) YouTube clips of you? I’d publish one a day, embedded in a short, flattering, blog post, then tweet, mentioning .

“The key is — How are you interesting? And how are you valuable? — to the people you’re interacting with.”

“Why are you doing social media?” Sales, something broader, brand experience….?

On curation “We read everything so you don’t have to!” vs “If it’s great content, people will read it.”

“The beauty of social media is it shouldn’t cost you much to start.”

“Is your company comfortable committing to a social media plan that will actually have impact?”

“I love negative engagement!… It’s beautiful! … people will respect you even more.”

If you’d prefer I not publish the clips, I’ll respectfully delete them immediately. In either case, you are also welcome to the original footage.

Best

Post away! Glad you found the insights useful. I’ll probably post them on my site as well.

Thanks,
John Lynn

Great, TX

Cool! To me John Lynn is the Dale Carnegie of Health IT Social Media, hence the title of this post. John blog posts more, thoughtful, grammatically-correct content about health IT than anyone I know. While one of the most enthusiastic evangelists for HIT I know, he nonetheless broaches contentious subjects with the greatest grace and ease. When he disagrees with a comment, he does so in such a gentle manner that the adjective I hear most often applied to John is “nice guy!”

Before we get to the substance of this post (six couple-minute segments I recorded with Google Glass at the recent HIMSS14 conference) I just have to repost this One-Minute Interview with John from HIMSS12.

As you can tell, John has a sense of humor. Anyway, on to John’s advice to everyone about using social media to win friends and influence people in Health IT…

I hope you enjoyed and learned as much from these clips of John as much as I did.
