OK! Finally, what is Glass? This was simply my attempt to distill down to a description of Glass using a large font paragraph fitting on a slide. Glass is a wearable computer. Wearables include smartwatches, smart bracelets, smart rings, smart fobs, even smart jewelry. This is what makes glass ubiquitous. It’s always on you. However, in contrast to your smart phone it’s on your head where you can glance at its display any time you wish. By the way, if anyone here has done human factors and computer displays, Glass is head-mounted display, not a heads up display. HUDs superimpose a display in your line of vision to augment what you see. 99% of the time Glass is off. You hear a ding, and at your option, you may be busy and decide not to respond, you glance up and it turns on briefly, and then right back off.
As I said, Google is aiming for the mass market because I think they believe it will natural diffuse into vertical markets adopted and adaptive by people who really understand those vertical markets. And one of those markets is healthcare, for which reason I stand here today.
